First Look: Das Boot TV Miniseries Remake Debuts First Photos

With filming recently wrapped in Malta, the first photos for the upcoming eight-part miniseries remake of Wolfgang Peterson’s 1981 masterpiece war film Das Boot. Doubt the miniseries will live up to the original film, but it’s definitely trying with scope. Boasting a $32 million budget, the miniseries stars Vicky Krieps, Tom Wlaschiha, Lizzy Caplan, Vincent Kartheiser, and James D’Arcy along with 79 actors and nearly 1,000 extras across its two intertwined narratives.

One story deals with the crew of the German submarine U-612 which is ready for its maiden voyage. The other story will take place in the port of La Rochelle where Simone Strasser (Played by Krieps) becomes engulfed in a dangerous liaison and forbidden love.

Andreas Prochaska is directing miniseries while Tony Saint and Johannes W. Betz penned the new take on the story. The miniseries is a co-production of Bavaria Fiction, Sky Deutschland, and Sonar Entertainment. The miniseries is planned to have a late 2018 release on Sky. Check out the new photos below:

    1. Really? It’s one of the very few that a German film made it internationally. Plus, they’ve shown this on tv about 150 times. Having said that, it’s surprisingly good and it’s worth your time.
